Let’s hear it for summer. It’s been real.

But, unfortunately, summer is winding down. It’s time to vacuum the sand in of the car and make room for Fall, isn’t it? Here’s my favorite summer vacation memento DIY idea so you can find a home for those stones, shells, wine corks and drink stirrers you’ve collected over an amazing summer.

Best part is, if you don’t feel like getting a hold of your hot glue gun, don’t worry. You don’t need supplies, you don’t need glue, you won’t have anything to clean up. Just do what I do. It’s something quick and easy. I like to call the lazy DIY vacation memento planter.

At one time it was a resourceful and easy idea, now it is a habit. It makes use of stones from beach trips and leftover wine corks that still smell like red wine from a late summer event.[/fusion_text][/fullwidth][fullwidth background_color=”” background_image=”” background_parallax=”none” parallax_speed=”0.3″ enable_mobile=”no” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding_top=”20″ padding_bottom=”20″ padding_left=”0″ padding_right=”0″ hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][title size=”1″ content_align=”left” style_type=”default” sep_color=”” class=”” id=””]It’s like your thumb was green this whole time[/title][fusion_text]When you put on your creative hat, you can stick almost anything in a planter.

I have smancy tooth pics from delicious burgers like the one from Gordon Ramsey’s burger restaurant in Vegas. I have cocktail stirrers from the Wynn in Maccau, outside Hong Kong. I even have a little wooden rooster a friend brought me back from Russia. You can guess where my next cruise ship room card is going to go…

Here’s a San Francisco bridge magnet, with a mini rubber duck (one of a 50+ collection) and a special cork in a hanging succulent glass holder.

As I kill off plants (sorry, it’s true!), I replant my mementos. After a couple trips to Europe, those ones might pile up enough to get a dedicated European themed planter. Maybe you’re collecting a ton of burger tooth picks and they would look cool sticking out of your new succulent potter. Whatever themes make sense bundled together in your summer vacation mementos DIY planter.

Finally, planting that doesn’t require getting dirty and tricking yourself into false hope. A DIY project that requires NO TIME.
